Baker Sanctuary is located in central southern Michigan less than 50 miles from the Indiana and Ohio state lines. It is northeast of the intersection of I-69 and I-94 in Convis Township in northcentral Calhoun County 10 miles north of historic Marshall, 12 miles east of cereal-center Battle Creek, and the nearby picturesque college town of Olivet and only minutes from Bellevue.
Baker Lodge and Doty Native Wildflower Trail
From I-69 turn west on N Dr. North (Exit 42). Immediately turn north (right) onto 16 Mile Rd. Go 3.2 miles to the sanctuary, veering left on Junction Rd. at the Garfield Rd. intersection. See map.
Meadow and Marshland Trail
From I-69 turn west on N Dr. North (Exit 42). Follow N Dr. North .5 mile to the blinker at Cornwell's Turkeyville. Turn north (right) onto 15-1/2 Mile Rd. Go 2.4 miles joining 15 Mile Rd. along the way. Enter the trail east (right) of the road at 21145 15 Mile Rd. See map.
Kiwanis Youth Area
From I-69 turn west on N Dr. North (Exit 42). Follow N Dr. North .5 mile to the blinker at Cornwell's Turkeyville. Turn north (right) onto 15-1/2 Mile Rd. Go 3.4 miles, (1 mile past Meadow and Marshland Trail entrance) joining 15 Mile Rd. along the way.
PUBLIC CRANE VIEWING. The Kiwanis Youth Area is open to the public on a limited seasonal basis by arrangement with Kiwanis Club of Battle Creek. Public access to the locked Kiwanis Youth Area is limited to CraneFest weekend, the second weekend in October, and every Saturday and Sunday, 4pm - 7pm, during October. See map above.
